Over the past several months, we have taken a thoughtful look at how Monterey Bay United can best serve our athletes, families, and coaching staff moving forward. As a result, we are refining our club model.
Going forward, MBU will operate with a more streamlined, high school-centered approach. Our focus will be on quality training, fundamentals, and game understanding, in an environment that is sustainable for athletes and families.
Competition will continue, with an emphasis on local and regional leagues, tournaments, and scrimmages, typically one to two weekends per month. National tournaments and their accompanying qualifying events, along with other multi-day events, may be scheduled selectively based on athlete interest, staffing, team readiness, and location. This approach prioritizes meaningful competitive opportunities while reducing unnecessary travel and overall demands.
A key component of our programming will be skills clinics and targeted training sessions for 5th-8th grade athletes, designed to build strong fundamentals and confidence in a flexible, accessible format. With coach approval, seventh- and eighth-grade athletes may also have the opportunity to participate in training sessions with high school groups when appropriate to support development and readiness.
Spring registration and a seasonal program overview are now available on our website for families who would like additional details.
Thank you for being part of the MBU community and for your continued support.
