Jon Burke
Founder
Jon Burke is the Founder of Monterey Bay United and brings more than 25 years of experience in water polo coaching, athlete development, and college counseling.
Over the course of his career, Jon has coached at the high school, collegiate, and national levels, including 5 years on the USA National Goalkeeper Staff. His teams have won 13 CIF section championships, one CIF NorCal championship, 15 league championships, and have appeared in 15 CIF section finals and three CIF NorCal championship games. At Stevenson School, Jon led the program to the first CIF Central Coast Section and CIF NorCal Championships in Monterey County history, establishing a new benchmark for boys' and girls' water polo in the region. Throughout his career, Jon has helped develop 18 High School All-Americans, more than 75 collegiate water polo players, national team athletes, and Olympic champions.
In addition to coaching, Jon serves as Co-Director of College Counseling at Stevenson School, where he helps students and families navigate selective college admissions and athletic recruiting. He is a frequent speaker at regional and national conferences on college admisisons, athletic recruiting, coaching, and student-athlete development.
Jon founded Monterey Bay United to create a program where athlete development comes first. MBU is committed to providing purposeful training, technical excellence, and meaningful competitive opportunities that help athletes develop the skills, confidence, and leadership needed to reach their full potential in water polo and beyond.
Outside of coaching, Jon enjoys mountaineering, backpacking, running, and exploring the outdoors with his wife and three children.
